My friend Simmon recently reminded me of the First Ruby Friend program. If you’re not familiar, it’s a 6-month mentorship initiative led by Andy Croll, connecting mentors and mentees in the Ruby community.
The only requirement is a willingness to share and to learn.
As a solo developer, I don’t often get the chance to work with early-career developers. This program is an ideal way for anyone with the desire to help to make a real impact.
If you’re just starting out and want to learn from more experienced developers, I highly recommend it. And if you’re further along in your career, it’s a fantastic way to give back. Signing up on the First Ruby Friend website only takes about three minutes.
