So, Monday’s and Tuesday’s emails didn’t go out as planned—Kit’s RSS Feed automation was automatically disabled.
Turns out, this happened because of a server error on my website that generates the feed. My site generator builds a static site, so it shouldn’t need to run any tasks. The last update even deployed successfully.
After some digging, I found the root cause: a scheduled task that regenerates the site for scheduled posts ran out of memory. 😞😮💨
To prevent future issues, I’ve now upgraded the server with substantially more headroom for growth and some additional monitoring.
Just a little PSA: always leave yourself some leeway in resources. Otherwise, weird (and preventable) issues can crop up unexpectedly!
